Visit Nepal 2020 - Paragliding in Nepal

Pokhara is a piece of heaven in Earth with all the beautiful green hills, mountains, Lakes, rivers, water falls.All these natural beauty makes it one of the best paragliding destination. Here takeoff is done from Sarangkot, a hill at an elevation of 1425m high, which is about half an hour drive from Pokhara and landing is done at the bank of Fewa Lake.

I had heard from few of my friends that paragliding is not that exciting and it gets a bit monotonous and boring after the excitement of few minutes of flying in the sky. I was at Pokhara for a training and after finishing my training, few of my friends made a plan for paragliding. Without much excitement, I joined the group and went for it with my group of friends.

We booked the ticket and We were taken to the top of Sarangkot in a pickup van. There at the top of the hill we could see a lots of pilots waiting to fly. I got a chance to fly with a Nepali Pilot 'Sagar' I still remember his name.

I was expecting that there will be some kind of training or guidance before we start to fly about how to fly and what to do but as soon as we reached there, one of the pilot asked me to put on the gear and asked me to run. I was shocked and scared and asked him to guide me before we fly. But all he said was run. The thrill of  not knowing whats next was both scary and exciting. Within no time I was in the sky flying freely like a bird. It was such an amazing feeling gliding in the air with all the amazing views around, blue sky above, green hills all around and a green clean lake below.

Flying High

After few minutes of flying and enjoying the view, the pilot asked me if I wanted to do stunts. I didn't know that we could also do that. Even thought I didn't know what he was talking about. Without thinking anything I said 'yes'. We started to fly high and low. He picked some leaves from a tree and gave it to me. It was an amazing experience. He then started to turn the parachute round and spiral and started to do different types of stunts. That was the experience that cant be explained in words. The adrenaline rush, the excitement, that amazing feeling of being free in the sky.

Out of the many adventurous things I have tried, Paragliding was the best. You have to do it yourself once to know how amazing the experience is.

On which side of the road should we walk?

Walk on right, Save Life

Everyone seems to be confused about the side on which we should walk on the road side. If there is a side walk, it is okay to walk on any side of the road. In the case, where there is no side walk, it is always safer to walk on the side facing the traffic. If your country follows left hand driving, walk on right hand side and if your country follows right hand driving, then walk on the left hand side.  In case of Nepal, as we have left hand driving, we should always walk on the right side of the road.

When we do so we can see whats approaching towards us, in case of any accidents  or misjudgment by the drivers, you can see it and can jump or walk away to a safer place. If you walk with your back towards the traffic flow, then you cant see the approaching vehicle and you delegate all your safety responsibility to the driver.

मिति २०७५ श्रावण २३ गते बुधबारका दिन आफनो कार्यालयको काम सकेर समय काट्ने जोहको रुपमा नाटक हेर्ने निर्णय गरि मण्डला नाटकघरमा कार्यालयका साथीहरुसँग पुग्यौ। नाटक हेर्ने रहर भएका हामी विशेषतः अलि भाभुक र गम्भिर प्रकृतिका नाटक रुचाउने वर्गमा पर्छौ। तर नाटकघर पुगिसकेपछि नाटकको नाम अनि व्यानर देखेर मन अलिक खिन्न भयो, कारण उक्त व्यानर हेरिसकेपछि जो कसैले उक्त नाटक हास्य कथामा आधारित छ भन्न सकिने खालको थियो। तापनि नाटकघर पुगिसकेकाले टिकट काटी नाटक हेर्न पर्खि बस्यौं। अन्ततः नाटक सुरु हुने संकेत घण्टि बज्यो र हामी नाटकघर भित्र पस्यौं।

दुई महिलाहरुको प्रवेशसँगै नाटकको सुरुवात भयो। नाटकको सुरुमा नाट्य प्रस्तुति अलिक अश्वभाविक लाग्यो। तर समसामयिक विषयवस्तुलाई समावेश गरि प्रतुत गरेकाले कतिखेर नाटक स्वभाविक र त्यस भित्र दुबियो पत्तै पाइएन। डारियो फोद्वारा लिखित "Can't Pay, Won't Pay" रचनामा विषेशत हालको महंगी अनि सरकारद्वारा बढाइएको करको विषयवस्तुलाई समावेश गरि प्रस्तुत गरिएको नाटक कलाकारहरुको बेजोड अभिनय अनि निर्देशकको प्रस्तुतिकरणका कारण अझ प्रभावकारी भएको पाइयो।

नाटक घरमा उपस्थित के बालक, के वृढ, के महिला, के पुरुष सबैले यो नाटकमा नाटकअवधि भरका लागि भएपनि आफनो दुःख बिर्सेर पेट मिचिमिचि हासेको पाइयो। महंगिले मानिसलाई कतिसम्म बाध्य बनाउँछ र भोकको अगाडि चाहेर या नचाहेर पनि कसरी मानिसले आफ्नो इमानसँग सम्झौता गर्न पुग्छ भन्ने कुरालाई हाँस्यव्यङ्गका रुपमा नाटकमा प्रस्तुत गरिएको छ।

नाटकको पटकथा अनि कलाकारहरुको अभिनय हेरिसकेपछि धेरै पछि फेरि एउटा उत्कृष्त नाटक हेरेको अनुभुति हुनु स्वभाविक देखिन्छ। नाटक अन्य नाटक हेरिकन केहि लामो भएतापनि डेढ घण्टा बितेको पत्तै हुन्न।

महङ्गि बढेपछि नेपाली महिला दिदी बहिनीहरु कुन हदसम्म जानसक्छन् र त्यसको विरोधमा आन्दोलन गरि पसलबाट सामान चोरि गरि सामान लुकाउन गरेका उत्पत्याङ्ग कार्यहरु र एउटा झुटले गर्दा कसरी अवस्था बिग्रदै जान्छ भन्ने कुराको हास्य प्रस्तुति हेर्नकालागि एकचोटि मण्डला नाटकघर गई नाटक हेर्नै पर्ने हुन्छ।

नेपालमा रहेका श्रमजिविवर्गहरुमा महंगी अनि सरकारद्वारा बढाइएको करको प्रभाव र त्यसको असरहरुलाई समेत विश्लेषन गरिएको हुनाले यस नाटक धेरै जसो सर्वसाधारणका लागि रुचिको विषय हुन सक्छ। साथै नेपाली नाट्य प्रस्तुतिमा हास्य नाटक मन पराउने दर्शकका लागि पनि यो नाटक अत्यन्त प्रभावकारी हुन सक्छ।
